Noisy, vibrant and truly multicultural, London is a megalopolis of people, ideas and energy. The capital and largest city of both the United Kingdom and of England, it is also the largest city in Western Europe. Though densely populated, London retains large swathes of green parkland and open space, even within the city centre. London is also fast becoming a 24-hour city, as it throbs, hums and teems with life. It is a city that energises its day people and night people alike.

London is located in the South East of England. It is situated on the River Thames.
Why do tourists visit this place?
London has the greatest concentration of major attractions in Britain and boasts four World Heritage Sites. Over two hundred attractions are free to enter, which makes a great bargain for tourists. This diverse city also has a truly international flavour and is a paradise for food lovers, be it French cuisine, Indian, Japanese, Chinese, Italian, American, or just about anything else. From world-famous department stores such as Harrods to one-off specialist shops, London is a shopaholic’s dream come true and the sheer variety on offer is hard to imagine. It's also a must to experience a little royal heritage when in London, but those experiences can stretch much further than Changing the Guard and visiting the royal palaces. Excellent sightseeing tours are available around the capital which take in all the 'royal sites'.

Tourist positively impacts London's economy. The Government Office for London states that tourism revenues constitute 10 per cent of London’s gross value added and contributes to the employment of up to 13 per cent of London’s workforce. The cultural diversity in London is a pull factor for tourists who come from countries which may not be very diverse in cultures and races. These tourists get to experience what a multicultural society is and mingle with others, a chance they may never get in their own country. For others, like us who live in Singapore, we may be able to feel at home even in London because of the multicultural society that they have there, similar but not the same as what we have here.

London is the capital of England and the United Kingdom (UK). It is the UK's largest and most populous metropolitan area and the largest urban zone in the European Union by most measures. London is the ultimate blend of classical and modern. There are over 100 art galleries and daily events throughout the year. It is known as the world’s shopping mecca, as it is the home of Harrods, as well as the Crown Jewels.

London is near both Lake Huron and Lake Erie in the region known as South-Western Ontario. It is located 200 km to the west of Toronto (about 2 hr by road). It can also be reached easily by road in about 2.5 hr + border-crossing time from two US cities: Detroit, Michigan; and Buffalo, New York.

There are a lot of thing that you can only see in London such as The Changing of the Guard at Buckingham Palace and on Horse Guards Parade are free displays of colourful Royal pageantry, Houses of Parliament and the famous clocktower that houses Big Ben, London Bridge and nearby Tower of London with its colourful 'Beefeaters', British Museum, Princess of Diana's memorial and Madame Tussauds, London Eye - the new landmark for London! London has some of the finest parks in the world and many more.

Qn. 5: how does tourism benefit the locals in London?
This whole idea of tourism in London will benefit the locals there. London is the most populous municipality in the European Union thus employment is really needed there. The tourism in London will create more jobs for the 8 million populations there.
Qn. 6: How does tourism have negative impact to the environment?
When the number of people exceeds the number which the environment can comfortably hold, problems and damages will pop out. The quality of water and air are inevitably influenced in some way.
Travelers prefer to use plane more often. And to the domestic aspect, the increasing number of visitors requests mass of transportation. Moreover, London already has large number of population.
